Wet patches in the ceiling of upstairs room?

We recently had a 2 storey extension completed, skimming completed 4 weeks ago.

Since then we have noted few wet patches in the ceiling of upstairs room , that would take a couple of days to dry and then reappear with a week or 2 then again dry.

Builder reassured us that’s it okay as long as it dries. However , just got the decorator now to start and they are quite worried about a potential leak from the roof vs possible minor piping leak.

Any advice ? Should we ask the builder to cut the plasterboard and investigate further ? ( p.S builder have left now )

I would definitely look for the cause of the leak.

100% a leak , is your central heating boiler holding pressure,? Just wondering if you got a damaged pipe on your heating system

If it’s a leak why would it dry out ? Could be condensation?

Leak, i would expect it to be roof related and dries out when it doesn’t rain. If it was boiler pipes then pressure would drop on boiler. Builder sounds like he’s fobbing off.

Check the roof not the plasterboard often the leak is not where the water is coming through

Definitely a leak. The builder saying its ok is him simply avoiding looking for it and fixing it.

What’s above? Definitely looks like a leak, so I’d cut hole out to take a look. Very easy to repair hole after.

If a flat roof..then may be a cold deck roof and has no ventilation, therefore when the heat from the house hits the roof condensation forms inside..creating a sweaty roof which then leaks into spot on the ceiling. Very common when theres no air flow.
