Not strictly an extension (that starts in a month… loft already done) but looking for some advice based on lived experience for our bathroom…

It’s currently ripped out. Everything ordered and here ready to fit except tiles.

We want a wet room floor… I’ve been advised it’s a bad plan – they eventually inevitably leak. This is on the first floor above our current kitchen, soon to be utility room.

Will it leak?! Why? Should we admit defeat and just order a shower tray which we really don’t want?

If it’s tanked properly it shouldn’t leak.

I hate our wet room floor. It leaks, hard to clean and the wet just travels so if someone goes to use toilet after you’ve showered end up with wet feet. Drives me nuts!

As the above comment if on a timber floor they move and eventually will

Leak, depending on how good the tanking etc is done

All depends on the installer and products moved. I install a wet room 12 years ago. And end of last year we replaced it for another for the customer as they wanted a different layout. But we strengthen the floor, make sure everything is secure and don’t use cheap materials

Bathroom layout planning is one of the most important stages of any renovation. Making sure there’s enough clearance around key fixtures like the toilet, basin, and shower can completely change how usable the space feels, especially in smaller bathrooms. We often advise thinking about storage early too, as wall-hung units can free up floor space and improve flow. At <strong data-start=”497″ data-end=”519″>Scotland Bathrooms (https://scotlandbathrooms.co.uk), we help homeowners plan layouts that balance practicality, comfort, and design, so the finished bathroom works well long term.
