Partial garage conversion cost?
Posted by Bella Clark on December 24, 2025 at 10:14 amHi everyone ,
We have a single garage and looking for a partition in the middle with half insulated for an exercise area , the original half left for storage . We have had some crazy quotes and wondering what the expected cost of this would be ?
Thank you

Bet they are just above your budget you had in your head and crazy doesn’t really factor into it. People want using space, not storage really so I wouid advise increasing gym space to a 1/3 of garage. We paid £13k two years ago plus some extras.

£8,000 Cambridgeshire. To comply with building regulations they normally like you to install blocks to form a cavity around the perimeter then build your stud work off of this. Then install breathable membrane and create a Chanel for ventilation inbetween the brickwork and insulation. Also, for the storage area they either like you to double board with plasterboard or what we do is use fireboard then where the plasterboards meet you have to cut strips of fireboard to then go over the joints.
