Hello everyone, I recently got my garage converted and the new LVT flooring was laid. To match the flooring I got the hallway flooring changed as well. There was old wall skirting in hallway which we did not remove to lay the floor. As such there was 5mm gaps left between floor and skirting. How this gap can be filled? Silicone or beadings? The builder tried using beadings at some place and silicone at others – it does not look great. Is this supposed to be like this?

I mean, that’s the only way to cover over the expansion gaps, but there are far neater techniques and methods that what this builder has used. Not only has the floor itself been butchered to fit the spaces, the beading is unfinished and the silicone is an awful colour match and finish..

I’d suggest consulting the builder/company you’ve paid to fit the floor, to rectify these. If they’re happy to post this finished piece to their socials/website.. then they shouldn’t be in business.

thanks, I talked to them and they said the 5mm gap can be covered by beading which he did- and he said this is finished. I am not sure what finished would look like. For silicone he said its the only colour he found. Now he is suggesting to use grey colour as I am going to paint the skirting and wall with somewhat grey colour

It’s been laid wrong should of cut the bottom of the wood out and then the flooring laid under it

Skirting board looks ok but I would have cut the of the trim on a 45° angle to finish off. I cut a piece out of the door frame and slid the floor underneath. I don’t think whoever has layed that is an experienced floor layer.
