Building Notice for a garage conversion?
I’ve put a building notice in today for an integrated garage conversion in Birmingham. Is anyone able to tell me roughly how long approval will take please? And when inspections should be requested?
Edit: I’ve also submitted the form but it hasn’t asked for payment?

I’m in Rotherham so might be different. It took 2 hours from submitting the payment to getting the notice approval.
They want an inspection on commencement, they want another for insulation and another final.
For the first inspection they said they want to see something in progress, but haven’t clarified what, so I’ll probably get them round when the brick layer has finished

I deal with Birmingham council and surrounding areas, longest one I’ve had took around 4 working days

Building Notice route has no official approval – its assessed on the inspections as work progresses and the completion certificate issued only if the works meets the requirements

Once the building notice is in, you can commence work. You or your builder will need to arrange for inspections at various stages.

wait until the Notice is clear before you commence. There should be a date set in your acknowledgement letter stating the earliest date you can commence work. Best wait for the letter from Building control first.
