Intelligent octopus Go overnight rate has dropped to 5.2p/kw
If there was ever a time to look into battery storage it’s now!

yea, got my email and letter confirmation this morning so was happy to see it actually come into action
-
yes, fixed was last week and variable this week.
Hopefully mine is on its way

Should have fixed it the other day as you could for 5.5p. It’s done up in price now.
-
But have raised the standing charge
They love to keep putting that up!
-
with most tariffs the high standing charges reduce the price per kWh.
The best example of this is the £150 reduction they has reduced April pricing.
If they had taken this off the standing charge everyone would have had their bill reduced by £150.
But they have used the price per kWh to deliver the saving and because we import 8,438kWh per year our reduction works out at £286 on electricity and £58 on gas

Unless the night time rate vanishes, battery storage always saves you money for load shifting.
-
I’m not sure this rate change makes any difference at all regarding profiting from a battery when the daytime rate has fallen by an equivalent amount
-
Dont look what will happen in september those. Unless you fixed those prices wont stay down long.
-
So many mixed messages here! This will not be across the board! There have been posts about increases rather than drops.
Octopus Go will be going up.
-
Not a reduction for new prospective quotes. Those have significantly increased yesterday. Same with EOn.
And not sure how long Octopus will hold their existing variable rates for existing variable customers.
The whole industry is changing day to day. And not in a good way.
-
Only for those already in the fixed period. Renewing or new to the tariff its much more than that.

Mine looks like it’ll be going up to 8p or more in July.
(I’m on a fix until end of June. I should have switched to the current fix last week when the 12M fix was only 5.59.
