    Issue getting my MCS certificate.
Installer wasn’t registered with MSC during the solar install.

    Advice needed!
I’m not going to mention any names but I’m having an issue getting my MCS certificate. My install was completed in March this year.
The company I used never mentioned to me that they didn’t have MCS at any time during the process. The contract states the MCS standard and I was told I could get paid for export when I initially signed the contract.
The contract also states that I should have received all my documentation within 7 days of completion. Obviously this has never happened.
I had an MCS assessor check the install back in the summer. I was never told this was because they didn’t have MCS and were going through the process.
The company has since failed their inspection due to the accounts not being right for some reason.
The director of the company is now not interested in getting MCS sorted as he thinks the Octopus trial means that it isn’t needed any more.
I see this as a breach of contract and am unsure what to do next. I wondered if anyone on here had any advice of what to do next.

The inverters need adjusting to your requirements.
Have a read of the manual, the information will be in there somewhere.

the 9.5’s are 3600w, so if your PV is producing 5kw, then 1400w needs to go elsewhere. Either to be used in the house or to the grid.

Laura MacGregor unfortunately not. It was all a debit card. Rookie error for sure!

      vague but a contract shouldn’t.

But they don’t say in that anything about being currently accredited by the MCS scheme, that the assessment is done by the MCS scheme

I think it’s your due diligence to ensure they are mcs accredited. If they aren’t mcs then any of the rules and regulations don’t apply. Rightly or wrongly your pushing the cart up a hill

William Roberts At time I didn’t know how to check or realise that MCS was the thing I needed to get payments. To say it’s been a learning curve is an understatement. But they did say I’d get paid for export.

They were not mcs accredited so I can’t see how any of this applies

William Roberts just reads to me that they are accredited that’s all

He’s not wrong. MCS is pointless. I’m getting paid for my export without it.

Chris Jeffrey I know it’s a ridiculous thing. But I can’t see a way of getting paid for export at the moment

Luke Sills Yeah, I feel sorry for you. Your experience of being messed around by installers is why I gave up and installed the system myself.

You will need your new circuit install details.

MCS cery is better if you can get it as it won’t tie you to octopus.

Do you have an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) and the Building Regulations certificate showing notification under Part P?

I may have missed something here….if you had MCS inspect the installation and that is all OK other than the company accounts why can’t MCS just allow your installation to be registered?

Eric Clegg good point. I haven’t spoken to MCS since hearing the news. Only found out late this afternoon.

You could sue under consumer rights act or fraud my misrepresentation, even though you only had a verbal conversation where they stated you would get paid for export, implying thet they were MCS registered. That route via MCOL will l ikely take 9 months to get in front of a Judge
