Just had my G99 acceptance but restricted to 3.6kw, apparently this is common for up here in Scotland… does this really have an adverse effect on how much I will be able to export during the summer months etc? 11.5kw battery and 6kw inverter. Cheers

Its not really an issue that battery could be exported to empty in 3 hours…..your limited to a rate of 3.68 not an amount

We’ve long summer days in Scotland so don’t think our PV generation is worse than the south.

I’ve 7.9kW PV. Being restricted to 3.68 is unfortunate but does depend on the local grid. SSEN informally told me I’d get 10 …

If you’ve a bigger array than 4kW, you are likely to get clipping in summer.

How long do you wait for letter from DNO?

    I’m in a similar position, 8k aray 25kw batteries with a 3kw export limit.

I keep an eye on the weather forecast and try to ensure I have sufficient headroom in my batteries so I can export the 3kw while it’s sunny and use the extra to fill batteries then export again later in the day.

how can you be restricted to 3kW? when you can connect and then inform using a G98 a 3.6 kW inverter and export it all.

idk, but I’m guessing she decided she wanted an inverter bigger than 3.68 connected to the grid to service her array and storage and home usage more than she valued an extra .68kW export

Supplier applied for 8k & we only got 3. Simple as that.

We are in an established area with old infrastructure so assume that is why.

You could enpty that battery to the grid in 3 hours, all depends on the number of panels. You have. Get a cheap rate overnight to fill the battery if you don’t have panels.

I got a limit of 7.4kw from my DNO and I’m in Glasgow…Only have 5.1kw of solar and 20kwh of battery…so technically if sun is out and I force export I can get to that value…

I am in central Scotland and no restrictions applied, they were happy for me to go to 7.2.

What is max output kWp for your solar?

It’s restricted to 3.68 KW per hour. Therefore if you had 10 hours of sunshine you could in theory export 36.8 KW. However that’s highly unlikely in Scotland!

Hi, similar issue with EcoFlow 6kw inverter last year, the installer (for me the electrician) automatically installs system on G98 setting within the installer app.

Once I had G99 approval I had to go back to the sparky who could remotely change the inverter setting to G99, essentially maxing it out, allowing the 6kw capacity (export or house load)

Unsure if all brand are the same but, but this was my experience.

    Hope this helps

I have a 6 kWp array generating 6 MWh annually. I am guessing, but less than 10% of that is above 3.68 kW
