Had a contract with a so called reputable roofing firm, they took my deposit left me with a felted and batterned roof with leaks etc, but that’s another story.

I was desperate and being mental impaired I was sweet talked by a roofing firm into completing the job. They had all the fancy vans and a website.

I think if I can post some pictures it would tell you far more then I can express.

This is one of the front hips, the back ridge is a real mess, I know I have been conned but I’m out of money and worried it could be dangerous if the wind gets under the hip tiles.

It seems instead of using the brackets supplied and doing it properly they used my own tile batterns just nailed onto my rafters? then just put long screws into them, probably through my membrane.

You can see the roll in place hasn’t even been stuck down.

That doesnt sound good. I’m sorry this has happened. Especially at this time of year.

Your going to need to get a report done by another roofer / building surveyor to find out what work has been done wrong.

    I agree,

You’ll then need to contact the roofer and get his insurance details (if you can) and also give them the oppertunity to rectify the work.

Make sure all of this is done in writing with dates on the correspandance.

You may then ned to go to Trading Standards about this roofer.

I’d be putting 1 star reviews around the internet about this roofer and to warn others.

There’s no need to be embarrassed.

Plenty of people are taken in by dodgy roofers on a daily basis.

There should be an online register where we can check out roofers or a proffesional body to oversee roofing work.

I would just like to thank you all for your kind words and advice, it’s much appreciated and helps with the anxiety that these people have caused.

Just an update, the photos are just one part, there’s plenty more. The so called roofer was meant to be coming back on Wednesday to correct any bad workmanship, I had arranged for someone qualified to be here.

Obviously he never showed up, next day the scaffolding company came and took down the scaffolding, which he also agreed to leave up.

I tried asking the scaffolding company if they could leave it up, if he’s not coming back then it would save me a lot of money.

But they wouldn’t have any of it even if I paid them.

So I will try all the advice given, Trading standards etc, thank you all again for your kind replies.
