Wickes solar install – what’s your experience been?

Looking for a bit of advice, help.

Has anyone had any dealings with Wickes solar install, are they reputable.

System they’re quoting me for is a Ecoflow 3.68kw hybrid system with 5kWh battery and 10x DEMAG 465kw panels = £10,200

    Appreciate any help, guidance

that’s expensive for what you’re getting. 5kwh of battery and 4.6kwp of solar should be around £7k fully installed.

You’ve been a member for a while so some of this information might be old news but I would encourage you to have a read as it will help with your decision making.

Totally agree with Brian, that’s really expensive. Try and get some local recommendations, knock neighbours’ doors and talk to them perhaps?

Seems very pricey, look for local companies you will get a beater deal.

You should be able to get a 10kw inverter and 10kw battery with 14 panels for about £8.5k ish

Bloody expensive, recommend to look at local independent installers. You will get a-lot more for a-lot less! Where are you in the country???

They bought out solar fast. From personal experience wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. Steer well clear of solar fast. Nightmare company

Here we go again. Hop, skip and jump away from that one. That’s very expensive for that size kW and kWh.

Last year, anyone could purchase a panel fro City plumbing for £75 and micro inverters were £125 each. Don’t know how difficult your roof is but the cost of batteries have gone down significantly. I know that scaffolding in Aberdeen is extortionate as Scaffolders can still make good money offshore. But North Hampton has industry all around it.

That is horrendously expensive. Find some local established installers and get some comparisons.

Aim for 5kw inverter or higher, and at least 10kWh battery storage. Use a local independent installer that is recommended by multiple sources, and has a visible track record.

Speak to Pas Safe Solutions Ltd – reputable energy efficiciency products supplier with an approved installer programme. (You get the battery, inverter and panels etc at trade prices, and a local installer that has been trained to their standard). Their covers look amazing as well.

Wickes Solar is legit and generally reliable, but a bit pricey and install quality can vary. Your £10,200 quote is about average-not a bargain, but not overpriced either. I’d still suggest getting a couple more quotes to compare, You can also check this for reference Commercial solar panels
