  • Quartz worktop that is more forgiving from a stains perspective?

Posted by Carl Hardwick on March 7, 2026 at 2:07 pm

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone has a quartz worktop that is more forgiving from a stains perspective and compliments the ‘mussel’ colour, please?

We thought we were set on quartz but since reading how easily it stains we’re wondering if actually laminate is more practical?

We would have loved a light/ bright quartz top with mussel units but maybe someone on here has gone for a darker worktop/ worktop with a fleck in it and if so, please could you share a photo of it?

    Thank you

I also have a white ish one from Al murad and no issues with staining, just go careful with what you put straight down on the top

It’s fine! We’re a messy household and there’s been red wine and God knows what else on it ! Bar keepers friend for the odd stain and it’s gone. 2 1/2 years in with mine. Go for it!

We have a white quartz with mirror chip fitted with our Cashmere DIY kitchen, which has been installed for 2 years. No issues with staining but we’re just careful to wipe up any spills containing high-risk staining ingredients as soon as they happen.

We have white quartz. It doesn’t stain at all. Sometimes it looks like it stained but it fades away soon. Quartz is not porous. So it cannot stain and it doesn’t/

I’ve had all sorts on my white quartz from Gemini and it doesn’t stain.

Get samples of the ones you like and do the stain tests. Most things come out easily with normal kitchen counter spray. For th8ngs left too long (overnight), you may need barkeepers friend, but I’ve only had to use that once in over a year.

We have mussel with almost white quartz with a tiny sparkle & fleck. I got blue food dye on it today & it wiped off (admittedly not left for long). Turmeric is the worst & I just spray Method kitchen cleaner on it & leave for 5 minutes or so & it’s gone. As others have said Barkeeper friend or a tiny dab of Cif should do the trick if it’s stubborn.

Mine is white and any stains are easily wiped away with mild bleach solution.

I’ve been testing samples with turmeric paste! I had a stain that cleaned off with bar keepers friend and I had left half. It was sat in the sun and faded in a few hours!!

We have white glittery quartz from diy. My stepdaughter’s go to takeaway is chips, cheese and curry sauce. I didn’t realise she had spilt some until next morning just after the quartz was fitted. It did take a little work to remove it but it was off within about half an hour

I had the same concerns but we had Carrara Aura which is white from Gemini fitted last November and no problems with staining at all. We’re careful with things like tea and coffee by placing a mat underneath when making them but we’ve had food splashes etc. on the worktop and no stains so far.

I have quartz but anything stubborn- curry/ blue food dye comes out with barkeepers friend. I’m over 3 years in with mine from rock & co granite. No issues at all!

We have black silestone with a mirror fleck and have had no issues with staining or cleaning it.

We’re looking at white for our new kitchen and have been purposely staining samples to see how they clean.
