£1000 30kw Solar setup
Hi guys,
I haven’t got much experience with solar and have just a basic knowledge and seeking some help / guidance. I’m not going to call professional electricians to get it all installed, hence why I’m here. I’m DIY’er at my core and willing to learn.
Here is what i have got:
1. DATOUBOSS 48V 6200W 120A MPPT Pure Sine Wave Controller Charger UK (£200)
2. 10x 245w 8a 36.6voc solar panels (£150)
3. 100h 48v ~5kw x6 lithium iron EV truck batteries (£600)
Technical Specifications for batteries:
• Chemistry: Lithium Iron
• Cell Type: LG INR21700M48 (21700 format, high-reliability EV-grade cells)
• Module Power Rating: 5 kW
• Nominal Voltage: Configurable for 48 V or 24 V system integration
Nominal Module Energy: 4.6 – 5 kWh
Nominal Cell Capacity: 107.5Ah
Full Module Voltage Info
Max Module Voltage: 50.4V
Nominal Module Voltage: 43.2V
Min Module Voltage: 36V
Half Module Voltage Info
Max Voltage: 25.2V
Nominal Voltage: 21.6V
Min Voltage: 18V
Max Cell Voltage: 4.2V
Nominal Cell Voltage: 3.6V
Min Cell Voltage: 3V
Module rated capacity: 115.2AhI’m planning to connect batteries in parallel, please advise of I’m thinking is wrong.
Positive to a 300a busbar
Negative to 100A 6way fuse panel
All connected with an equal 60cm length 2awg (35mm2) cables.
Busbar and fuse panel connects to + – of the inverter by 2 meters cable.
I’m also planning to add 70a breakers on each positive cable between batteries and bushbar. How best to wire it, where exactly i would place them? Can i cut cable in half? It would effect equal charge, so can i extend by 15cm negative cable?
Any suggestions, would you do something differently?
I am planning to expand on solar panels (or keep old panels for 2kw portable power station and caravan and get 20-30 more powerful in a future.
Batteries want to charge/ discharge 20-80% (maybe 90%), for longevity. How do i accurate calculate/set correct voltage of the inverter?
This is off-grid set-up for now, but in a future i would like to somehow conveniently and safely connect to my house. Any ideas how? I’m on prepaid meter readings, not changing on a purpose but i know there are EV / night tariff benefits which I’m also considering but with my “cheap self installed” setup I’m not willing to sell anything to the grid. Self sufficient/ less dependent is the main aim.
I also have 3kw Hola grid tie inverter (£10 from carboot lol) if that helps me in my situation.
Also would ot be clever charging my Allpowers R2500 power station with this setup, or it’s better to charge it solar directly (1000W 13a 150v input.)
